MOFT Snap Phone Tripod Stand Review: The Accessory That Never Left My Phone

MOFT Snap Phone Tripod Stand Review: The Accessory That Never Left My Phone

I didn’t go out looking for this.

Someone in Colin’s office had it, then Colin had it, and now it’s been stuck to the back of my phone for the past few months. That probably says more than anything else.

The MOFT Snap Phone Tripod Stand is a MagSafe accessory that folds flat against the back of your phone, but flips open into both a stand and a mini tripod. It sounds like a small thing, but after living with it for a while, it’s become one of those accessories I use more than I expected.

Living With It

This is one of those products that doesn’t feel essential until you’ve used it for a while. Most of the time, I’m simply using it as a stand. Watching something on a table, adjusting the angle on a plane, or just getting my phone to sit properly instead of lying flat on a surface.

That alone makes it useful, but the tripod part is what makes it properly handy.

You can open it up, raise the phone slightly, angle it down, or position it for photos. I’ve been using it with the camera remote on my Apple Watch, which makes it surprisingly practical for quick shots without setting anything up.

It works in both portrait and landscape, and it’s sturdy enough that you’re not constantly worried about it tipping over when you tap the screen or adjust it.

The best part is that it folds flat enough to leave on your phone full-time, which is exactly what I’ve done.

Worth Knowing

The tripod version is the more flexible option, especially if you use your phone for photos, video calls or content creation.

If you mostly just want something to prop your phone up on a desk, MOFT also makes a simpler stand version that’s smaller and more compact, but it only offers a few fixed viewing angles.

It works best with iPhones or MagSafe-compatible cases, although MOFT includes a metal ring sticker if your current case doesn’t support MagSafe.

The magnet itself is strong, so once it’s attached, it stays put.

MOFT also offers the Snap Tripod Stand in a range of colours using its MOVAS vegan leather finish, which helps it feel a little less gadget-y than most phone accessories.

That said, after about four months of daily use, I did start noticing some fraying and peeling around the edges. Nothing dramatic, but worth mentioning at this price.

MOFT offers a 12-month limited warranty on direct orders, and when I reached out, they did offer a replacement, provided I covered the $5 USD shipping cost.

Not ideal, but still good to see them stand behind it.

It also doubles as a bit of a fidget toy - snapping it on and off the back of hte phone is oddly satisfying.

Pricing

The MOFT Snap Phone Tripod Stand costs $59.99 AUD.

It’s not cheap for what is essentially a phone stand, but it does replace a few small use cases at once.

You can buy it through MOFT’s website and Amazon Australia.

MOFT also makes matching wallet, iPad and MacBook accessories, some of which are sold through Apple Stores.

Verdict

The MOFT Snap Phone Tripod Stand is one of those accessories that quietly changes how you use your phone.

It’s not essential, and it’s definitely on the expensive side, but once it’s on your phone, it’s surprisingly hard to go back. It makes watching content more comfortable, gives you a quick stand when you need one, and adds just enough tripod flexibility to be genuinely useful.

If you take photos, do video calls or regularly prop your phone up at different angles, it makes a lot of sense.

If you only need a basic stand occasionally, MOFT’s simpler stand version is probably the better buy.
