Insta360 has unveiled the Luna Ultra, a new premium gimbal camera developed in partnership with Leica.

Designed for creators and vloggers, Luna Ultra combines a 1-inch sensor, dual Leica lenses and built-in 3-axis stabilisation in a compact body weighing just over 200 grams. One of its standout features is a detachable 2-inch OLED touchscreen that functions as both a wireless monitor and full remote control, allowing users to frame shots, adjust settings and start recording from up to 20 metres away.

The main camera uses a Leica Summicron lens paired with a 1-inch sensor capable of recording 8K video, while a dedicated telephoto camera offers up to 12x zoom, including 6x lossless zoom. Insta360 says the system can also create more natural background blur across multiple focal lengths.

Video recording extends to 8K at 30fps, while 4K recording is available at up to 120fps and slow-motion footage can be captured at up to 240fps. Support for Dolby Vision, 10-bit colour and I-Log recording gives creators greater flexibility when editing footage.

Other features include Deep Track 5.0 subject tracking, PureVideo low-light processing, up to four hours of battery life and support for microSD cards up to 1TB.
